What is Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, responsible for the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. Vitamin D is needed to keep bones, teeth, and muscles healthy. Vitamin D is made by the body when exposed to sunlight and can be found in some food products.

How would we know if we are deficient?

Vitamin D deficiency is particularly common in people in the UK and Western Europe where there is not enough sunshine throughout the year. Aching bones can be a sign of deficient Vitamin D and can lead to a number of further medical conditions. It is advised to get a Blood Test from your GP to check your Vitamin D levels regularly.

Why are the Injections better than the tablets?

Vitamin D injections are designed to deliver a large dose of vitamin D delivered directly to the bloodstream via intravenous injection. High doses of Vitamin D are difficult to absorb quickly otherwise through tablets or directly from the sunshine.

How often should we have this?

Vitamin D injections are recommended every 3 months. You can continue to get the injections until your vitamin D levels are adequate. This can be determined by a blood test from your GP.

What are the benefits?

What are the the benefits of having a Vitamin D injection helps the body to boost the metabolism, assist in weight loss, helps to build the body's strength in healthy bones and help to support the normal function of the nervous system and builds calcium. It is mostly benefical for those who suffer with type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular health, aching bones and fatigue.
